Filming starts next week. I am beyond excited. Actors have shared their excitement and begun memorizing their lines.
As of this week, another stresser has been placed on this film. I have been hired as a video editor. Which is great need and a great opportunity. But its nightside. 3am-9am on Saturday and Sunday.
As of now the schedule has us only filming on Saturdays and Sundays. At 9 am.
Now, a normal person may decide to shoot less every day and expand the shoot for several months and perhaps let it go unfinished, some may even cancel the thing altogether.
Not me. I don't mean to come off as egotistical or even ignorant, but I am a firm believer and just doing it. And no, I'm not referring to Nike. Fuck that.
I believe that there always be something to hold you back and an excuse to procrastinate, but pushing forward is the only option.
I know I will be dead tired. I know I will lose some time with my girlfriend and my family. But if I don't do this now, I won't. And I'm lucky enough to have their support.
That's enough motivational content for now, let’s talk logistics.
I designed the schedule so that the first shoot is an easier one. It’s at my house. It’s with people I know and I’m comfortable with. And it’s a relatively simple set of scenes.
The biggest chunk we will be filming is a dinner scene between the main character, Cal, and his parents, chip and Frieda, and Piermont.
There shouldn't be much movement in the scene so camera work should be relatively simple.
The main thing I need to take care of is purchasing the props and equipment for the film.
Luckily I have most of the props, even the box of silverware. Who knew stealing a fork from high school every day would pay off?
I don’t need much more equipment, just things to make it easier.
The camera I use is older, so it overheats. I need to purchase an attachment that gets my hand of the battery so it doesn't overheat. While I'm at it, I need to get some new batteries as well. The ones I have blow. In fact, I think I bought them used, which was moronic on my part.
I also need a need a new tripod, but damn are they expensive. I have 18 million tripods, but for some reason, none of them have a detachable base, so I need one with that.
I need a few other things here and there, but that's the jist.
With just over a week left, I’m ready to begin filming. I plan to post some behind the scenes footage as well as more insights to the film.
