Greg, Koblyn, Kevin, Jordan and myself blocked some of the denser scenes tonight. We went through some of the more comedic, emotional and physical scenes. It was a little rocky at first, but everyone got way more comfortable as time went on.
I’ve done other movie before, but this is my far the one with the most developed characters and story. It was great to see these actors pitching ideas for their character’s backstories and motivations—thing I hadn’t even thought of. While I do consider myself a bit of a control freak, I loved hearing ideas different than my own.
I shot these scenes on my phone just as a proof of concept and through them together in a rough edit. I'm also toying with the letterbox...I think I like it.
Hopefully we can do another scene blocking within the next few weeks with the parents and caretaker. The purpose is to familiarize the cast with scenes, begin line memorization, but most importantly, improving relationships and comfort with one another.
Then we start filming within about a month. I’m a bit nervous, but excited to get started.
I don’t have much more to write at this time, but I did take some video of the blocking from tonight. I edited it together just to get a rough feel for some of the scenes.
